Finally the speculation is over. Warner Bros. has confirmed the release of Beetlejuice 2, which is coming to cinemas on September 6, 2024 (per Deadline).

It incidentally coincides with the premiere of Marvel’s Blade featuring Mahershala Ali (though we will see if either moves dates).

Warner Bros. has a history of box office success over the Labor Day weekend with hits like It and The Nun. Tim Burton is returning as director with Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder reprising their roles as Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz respectively. And now introduced in Beetlejuice 2, Jenna Ortega is being added as the daughter of Ryder’s character. She is best known for Netflix’s “Wednesday” as well as X. Justin Theroux have also joined the cast.

Beetlejuice 2’s production is scheduled to start on May 10 in London, with the screenplay written by Mike Vukadinovich, a writer from Showtime’s “Kidding.”

The original Beetlejuice film was a critical and commercial triumph, generating $74.7 million in revenue and even inspiring a Tony-nominated stage musical, which closed in January 2020 after a four-year run.
