In a new announcement, a slasher movie Founders Day is set to make its grand debut. The world premiere of this “bold political slasher” from the Bloomquist Brothers is scheduled for August 18 at Popcorn Frights. Following this, the movie will get an audience with a premiere at FrightFest on August 28. The team at Bloody Disgusting has been granted access to the new teaser poster, building anticipation for this interesting entry into the “holiday” horror movie subgenre.

Set in a seemingly peaceful small town, Founders Day takes a dark turn as a series of ominous killings cast a sinister shadow over the community in the days leading up to a fiercely contested mayoral election. As the masked killer’s reign of terror grips every street corner and accusations fly, the town’s residents must unite and race against time to uncover the chilling truth before fear engulfs them completely.

Helmed by Erik Bloomquist, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Carson Bloomquist, Founders Day promises a unique cinematic experience.

“With whodunnit slashers serving as our entry point into the genre,” said the Bloomquist brothers, “we are elated to bring our own mischief-laden, blood-soaked mystery to life. Founders Day is a slasher for the world we are living in right now, and we can’t wait for the speculation on who’s behind the mask to begin…”

Starring in the Founders Day movie are Devin Druid (13 Reasons Why), Emilia McCarthy (SkyMed), Amy Hargreaves (13 Reasons Why), Catherine Curtin (Stranger Things), William Russ (Boy Meets World), Naomi Grace (NCIS), Olivia Nikkanen (The Society), Jayce Bartok (When They See Us), Andrew Stewart Jones (Gotham), Tyler James White (The Villains of Valley View), Erik Bloomquist (Weekenders), Adam Weppler (Long Lost), Kate Edmonds (The Third Saturday in October), Dylan Slade, and Arun Cameron Storrs.
