A new show based on Jason Arnopp’s The Last Days of Jack Sparks has just been announced, with Vertigo Films leading the adaptation. The book originally published in 2016, the series adaptation has Rob Savage (Host, Dashcam) set to direct and Gaby Hull (Two Weeks to Live, We Hunt Together) penning the script.
The novel follows journalist and skeptic Jack Sparks who is writing a new book about occults. And as you can imagine, he soon gets more than he expected when going down that dark path.
The full plot description of The Last Days of Jack Sparks:
Jack Sparks died while writing this book. It was no secret that journalist Jack Sparks had been researching the occult for his new book. No stranger to controversy, he’d already triggered a furious Twitter storm by mocking an exorcism he witnessed.
Then there was that video: forty seconds of chilling footage that Jack repeatedly claimed was not of his making, yet was posted from his own YouTube account. Nobody knew what happened to Jack in the days that followed — until now.
“Bringing diabolically wonderful books like Jason’s to the screen is a rare treat,” says director Rob Savage. “The disturbing, hilarious and terrifying story of Jack Sparks is such a unique take on the genre, one that will give audiences a new reason to fear the dark. Gaby’s uniquely brilliant writing and razor wit make him the perfect collaborator to bring this new nightmare to life and I’m delighted to be working with the batshit Vertigo Films again on this batshit horror odyssey.”
Author of The Last Days of Jack Sparks Jason Arnopp adds: “Deep down in the devil’s workshop, the Dream Team bell is tolling loud and clear. I know that Jack Sparks himself would raise several glasses to these creative hellions and loudly declare that they will do his gruesome and tragic story proud.”
Co-founder of Vertigo Films James Richardson is executive producing while Head of Development Nathalie Peter-Contesse is overseeing development of the The Last Days of Jack Sparks show.
