Synopsis
The movie Spontaneous Combustion (1990) is a sci-fi horror film directed by Tobe Hooper and starring Brad Dourif, Cynthia Bain, and William Prince. It follows the story of Sam who possesses dangerous pyrokinetic powers.
The movie Spontaneous Combustion (1990) opens with scientist parents experimenting on their unborn child. Their experiments give baby Sam the power to start fires with his mind. As Sam grows up, he struggles to control his abilities. After his foster parents die in a fire he causes, Sam searches for answers about his real parents.
Sam learns his parents’ experiments were attempts to create a new evolutionary species. Their work was continued in secret by a company called Danbury Foundation. As Sam’s powers grow stronger, people around him start dying in fiery explosions. Sam comes to realize he could set off nuclear holocaust if he doesn’t contain his pyrokinesis.
After being captured by Danbury Foundation, Sam escapes and confronts his real father. During the emotional climax, Sam unleashes his full power, engulfing himself and his father in a massive explosion that destroys the research once and for all.
