The Toxic Avenger (1984)

Synopsis

The movie The Toxic Avenger (1984) centers on a bullied janitor who falls into a vat of toxic waste that transforms him into a violently deformed but righteous superhero.

In the crime-ridden town of Tromaville, geeky janitor Melvin is constantly tormented by a group of thuggish locals. When a cruel prank goes too far, Melvin falls out of a window and into a barrel of radioactive toxic waste below.

The movie The Toxic Avenger (1984) shows the chemicals mutating Melvin into a grotesquely disfigured but super strong creature. Dubbed The Toxic Avenger, he decides to use his new abilities to violently fight crime in Tromaville.

The Toxic Avenger becomes a violent folk hero in town, gruesomely killing various criminals and corrupt officials. He falls in love with a beautiful blind woman who loves him for his kind personality. In the end, The Toxic Avenger defeats the leader of the gang who had bullied him.

Trivia

It was the first superhero movie released by Troma Entertainment.
