Scream 6 promises a lot of things, and bringing the action to an urban setting is certainly one of the more interesting aspects of the new movie. Now we have Scream 6’s Superbowl trailer to give us more on what this new installment has in store.
There are familiar things, like the phone call for Courtney Cox’s Gale Weathers. Ghostface and his iconic knife. Even a “shrine” to the killer is akin to what they have done in the past movies, where oftentimes new killers are essentially worshipping what past killers have done. One thing different this Scream 6 Superbowl trailer gives us is running from him from city rooftops and in urban subways. It’s almost like they looked at Predator 2 or Poltergeist 3 and decided taking it to the city was what was needed with this franchise.
My theory based on this trailer is that part of the movie will be reminiscent of the movie Judgement Night, where the cast that includes Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Hayden Panettiere, and Courteney Cox will be chased throughout the city in one night, where for certain reasons just going to a police station is somehow out of the realm of possibility.
Whatever is in store, based on what we see in this Scream 6 Superbowl trailer, I’m in for a bloody good time. Scream 6 comes to theaters March 10th, 2023
